On March 7, the Dore And Whittier Architect team presented the results of a detailed analysis of both the East Gloucester and Veterans Building Sites. Both buildings were reviewed against MSBA guidelines for new school buildings. The team took a close look at classroom sizes, handicap accessibility, fire protection and many other crucial areas of school construction and design. The results will inform the decision-making process in siting a new school building and are compiled in the below presentation - click to download.
On Tuesday, November 6, 2018, the Massachusetts School Building Authority Designer Selection Panel ("DSP") interviewed the finalists for the East Gloucester New Building Project. The following individuals represented the City of Gloucester on the DSP:
The Designer Selection Panel determined that Dore & Whittier “...possesses the requisite skills and experience for this project, particularly in light of their extensive experience in the design and construction of schools in Massachusetts.”
The City hopes to have Dore & Whittier under contract by the middle of December. Then, the work officially begins.

On February 14, 2018, the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) announced that Gloucester was one of six school districts invited to conduct a feasibility study for potential MSBA school construction projects. Click here for link to official announcement. The first step as we enter the feasibility study phase of this project is to hire a Project Manager.
