On September 29, 2020, the City Council voted to transfer the care, custody and control of the land behind the Veterans' Memorial Elementary School to the Gloucester School Committee for the purpose of use as school facilities.
On November 3, 2020, Gloucester voters will be asked to vote on Question 3 which is a Debt Exclusion override. A positive vote would provide funding for the project through an incremental tax for the duration of borrowing for the project which is projected to be 25 years. The projected rate increase is $20 per $100,000 of assessed value. If the vote is passed by the majority of voters, the project will proceed to detailed architectural plans and planning for the early stage work for construction. |
